need help remembering an old game

my google skills aren't working on this. it was one of the first side-scrolling fighting games released for the Sega Genesis. similar to Final Fight. I'm not thinking of Streets of Rage. Some things i remember:
-big sprites, great graphics
-lots of walls
-main character looked like Squall from FF8
-extremely repetitive
-map similar to Bionic Commando I think

Altered Beast or Golden Axe? Eternal Champions?

I remember walls a lot in Altered Beast which was a launch title.

Never was a big Genesis fan since it was mostly shooters, sports, and fighters.

^ yeah i looked through the list and missed it the first time.

i found it. it was called Last Battle. played the hell out of it and never beat it. for some reason it randomly popped into my mind today.
guess i finally get to see the ending thanks to youtube.

Looks very familiar, pretty sure I played that one. Not sure if I ever beat it. I used to rent everything Genesis from the local convenience store, even the super crappy stuff (not saying this one is, I can't remember a tonne about it).
