need help reinstalling ie6 pls

i have xp sp1 and ie6 sp1. i lately did a system restore when my computer when on a binge.

after that all went well until 2 days ago my ie started acting up - i could'nt access streaming media and most websites loaded very slowly despite my adsl connection(it is not a modem or isp problem because my downloading is still smooth). when i tried to unistall ie6 from the control panel, it was not there. i know that after an xp sysem restore some .log files go missing so i have to reinstall some programs as i cannot unistall them.

i cant unistall ie6 manually from the folder as there is no uninstall file there.

also i cannot reinstall ie6 over the files i have because the installation is cancelled and i get a notic that "a newer version of the software has been setected on your system. setup will not continue."

what do i do? please help me with this
 
IE6 SP1 is included in XP SP1 and should not be installed separately. What you might try is reinstalling XP Sp1 and stop right there.
