need help regarding the 3.9 catalyst drivers from ati

I removed my old 3.7 catalyst drivers and installed the new 3.9 catalyst and 3dmark03 shows scores dropping 75pts and i ran the test again to make sure and sure enough it dropped 75pts. Isn't the new 3.9 supppose to improve performance or am i doing something wrong?

It might improve performance, but it doesn't improve 3Dmarks. =)

You probably have a corrupt install.

I did this the first time I installed the 3.9s

Uninstalled the drivers and control pannel through add remove
rebooted (didn't install and unplugged cable modem)
searched for "ati.dll" and deleted all the files in system32 folder
deleted the ati folders in Crogram and C: drive
used regcleaner to delete all atidriver registry entries
rebooted
installed new 3.9s


result-all of my games dropped by 40% (slide show) knew it wasn't right so redid the clean install and "bingo"!

ATi doesn't keep the drivers static from set to set. It's possible they tweaked this, that, and the other thing, and one or all of those resulted in slightly slower performance (and 75pts more in AlliterationMark). 75pts seems like too small an amount to worry about.

yea i know 75 pts seems little to worry about, I guess its just that I expected positive scores than negative scores since they are the latest drivers. but anyway if any real world problems do occur or any twitches, then im goin back to 3.7 but for now i'll give 3.9 a chance
