I have a problem. Currently i have Win98 on my c: and Win2k on my E: I want to reformat my C: drive and reinstall win98 and keep my existing Win2k partition. I've done this before only to find out that i couldnt get back into Win2k. Is there a way to reformat my c: and reinstall win98 and STILL get the boot menu to show up?

In your BIOS, check what the boot partition is. Whatever it is, check for a boot.ini in that drive. Then, copy the Win2k heading, and paste it back in when you are done reformatting.

Actually, just copy the file and move it to a partition that won't be touched. Then, copy and paste the Win2k info back in.

I've never had to go to the extreme, but make an emergency repair floppy with the backup utility in Win2K. After you format C:, boot with the Win2K CD and repair the boot sector with the files on your ERF (from above).

If that works, boot to DOS and install Win98 with "setup /ntldr"
