Need help recovering data UPDATE- Solved

To make a long story short....

After doing a System Restore on a comp running WinXP Pro, the secondary (slave) hard drive which was still formatted with FAT32 can no longer be accessed. Error message says the drive is not formatted.

This drive has about a gig of data that I don't haved backed-up elsewhere and which I would like to retrieve.

Anyone have any ideas on how I might retrieve data on that drive?

Failing that, anyone know of professional data retrieval companies that might have the resources to do it?

Thanks for any assistance.

UPDATE- Problem solved. Thought I would post results that may help someone else.
I researched data recovery programs and companies. Couldn't find anything free that would do the trick.
Emailed one data recovery company and got back an estimate of $500-$1200 - whoo!

Downloaded a demo of Stellar Phoenix which found the files. Have to pay $79 to activate the product so it will work.
I also saw getdataback which is probably a similar program and that one costs $69.

These programs apparently only work installed on one machine.
Hope this helps someone.
And thanks to all who posted suggestions.

First, make sure you stop using that drive for now. Second: wait till others give recommendations on programs you could try to use for data recovery.

I've tried putting it into two other comps, one running Win98Se which did not recognize the drive at all, and another WinXP comp which does recognize the drive, but cannot access any data or imfo, saying it needs to be formatted.

I'm checking the Western Digital website now to see if they have a utility that may help. If anyone knows a specific utility I should look at, plz let me know.
