I have a game theater XP, and I want my PC to record what I play on my guitar as I play it. Anyone know what program to use and how to do it? Thanks

I don't get it. Are you saying that none of the included software can handle this? To me, it looks like you can plug your guitar straight into the 1/4" mic input and go!

Cool Edit Pro 2 seems to be the most popular choice. It has pretty much everything, unfortunately it is around $400 and buggy as hell. Some inexpensive choices are n-Track ($42), or Cakewalk Guitar Tracks or Home Studio.

Personally I would invest in a good cheap pre-amp (Midiman Audio Buddy, $70) because the mic pre on your soundcard is only designed for lo-fi apps.
