Need help reallocating weight

I'll give a background. Im 17 years old, 6'3" and a wide frame. At this time last year I weighed 205lbs. I finally started to realize that I had way too much weight. So I started changing my diet and actually being a little hungry for a change instead of trying to be full all the time.

Fast forward to now. I weigh 176lbs. A bit more than I care to lose and it bothers me a little bit because now I dont know how to exactly stop it. I'm afraid if I try to level off Ill go right back up again. You see, I still have a tiny bit "lovehandles" not big at all... but they are there... At the same time, I'm starting to become gaunt in my shoulders and its bothering my parents.

I dont want to lose any more weight... What I would like to do is lose the last bit of these lovehandles while putting some more fat in my shoulder area. Is there any way to do that?

If you eat a balanced and healthy diet, and don't overeat, you should be ok.
Problem is most people don't know what a balanced and healthy diet is.

Well, I live 30 miles out of town. I dont eat fastfood, sometimes 1 fun size twix, and then I eat all homecooked meals. Baked chicken, rump roasts, steam broccoli and cauliflower.... I'm hungry now 😀
 
Also, food has psychological meaning for many people. Often we eat for the wrong reasons, ie to feel better, as a reward, b/c your parents used to want you to finish everything on your plate, etc.
 
If you are willing to get serious with weightlifting you could bulk for several months to add some mass, then spend another few months cutting to lose the love handles. If you are new to this, then you may have some success doing both at the same time. Nope. Weight gain or loss is ultimately determined by calories in vs. calories out. What that weight consists of will depend on your training, diet, and genetics.

 
you can spot reduce if you lift weights. the muscles burn the fat in the region. for those trying to lose weight in the middle, do situps, crunches and oblique sets with a 10 or 15 lbs weight and you'll see significant reduction in that area. OP, lowering your caloric intake isn't enough, lift weights if your want to bulk up your shoulders, and get into an aerobic exercise to balance out.

Nope. You might end up with a belly or love handles that stuck out even more.

Spot reduction is a myth. Your body will remove fat from whatever areas it is genetically inclined to prefer. Also you will not lose any fat period if you are consuming more calories than you are burning.

This is the problem with ATOT, you have no idea what you are talking about. So why is it everytime I goto the GYM , I see the overweight people hitting the AB machnes all the time, and they never get anywhere.
 
Advertisements and supermarket tabloids, books, etc have people so confused about weight and dieting.
Fact is, if you burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight.
If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.
To be healthy, eat balanced meals, and exercise.

You can waste money by going on some particular diet program, but all you really need is self-education and a few better habits.
 
I currently lift 75lbs. Im not particulary the hulking type, even if I am large built. My girfriend likes me the way I am, but is now worried I may be going a bit too far. While I look at my stomach and lovehandles and think there is still room for improvement, my parents and girlfriend both saying it... there has to be some truth on it. So I'm just trying to figure out the best way to stop the slide. I have a rapid metabolism thank goodness. If I dont do 5 meals a day right now I start losing weight. My twin brother is even worse. Hes slim built and his average weight is around 163 (hes around 6'2") But when he stopped eating so much he went to 130 in a matter of weeks... really creepy :Q I'm really worried that might happen to me if I dont do it right.

Dude girls can lift 75lbs with little to no problem....

You lift 75 lbs on what exercise? Are you drunk or am I just extra tired?

Wrong.

For the OP:

The best thing you can do to increase mass in your shoulders is to work on everything, even including legs. Just focusing on a few muscle groups and working on nothing else is a waste of time and you won't see much growth anywhere doing it that way.

As for the fat, just eat less. If you are working hard enough your body will put on the muscle even with less intake. Just make sure what you are eating is healthy and not empty calories. You can't affect where your body is going to burn its fat first or last.

Again, from reading the description in your OP it sounds like your best bet is to do a clean bulk for several months, followed by a cut to lose the remainder of the bodyfat.

 
I think I came across wrong there :laugh: I can lift far far more than that XD I'm saying I simply have 75lbs. of weight that I lift (curl) regularly to help wake me up in the morning, and limber me up during the day before going outside to help my dad. Thats by far not my limit and I didn't mean to come across that way :laugh:
