Need Help. RAID mobo switch

I am hoping I can get some quick help. Here is my problem:

I have a new Asus P4P800 mobo with ata133 raid from VIA. My old mobo was a Gigabyte GI8EXP with raid from Promise. I am really hoping to not have to rebuild the array and reinstall, but so far, the new controller chip does not see the raid array. Is IDE raid cross compatable? I have the option of building a new array in the setup, but I think that will wipe my old array and start a new one. I am pretty confident I am going to have to start from scratch, and I have already backed up what I can, but before wiping it all and starting over, I would like to see if there is anything else I can try that I havent thought of. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there and option to rebuild the array?

If not, just try to set up a new RAID array on the new controller. I seem to remember doing that once, when I switched motherboards, and all my information was there when it built the new array. 🙂

Thats more or less what I was hoping, I just dont know if the VIA controller will set up the array differenly than the Promise controller did and not see the info on the drive. I can see this working if maybe I get the size of the stripes right.. hmm .. wish I could remember what that would be..

Well, I will try it and hope..

BTW, the controller doesnt have an option to rebuild.. Just to build.. and it shows the drives as 2 seperate drives. I put the drive that was on IDE3 on the Gigabyte mobo on the primary on the Asus, and the one from IDE4 on the secondary. I hope that is correct too... talk about shooting from the hip on this one...
