I have a computer that has had the settings set in such a way that when I boot the computer, only about four of the icons on the desktop are visible on the monitor. If I right click to go to display properties, the window in not displayed half off of the screen so that I cannot change the settings. I cannot drag it back onto the screen. How can I get my original settings back???

bring up the start menu. if you don't have a keyboard with the hot key just click around in the corner with your mouse.
go to settings/control panel/display
change rhe res..

are you booting normal or safe mode?

Can you get into control panel/system/display adapters?
delete it or update the driver.

Problem solved. I was able to change the settings in safe mode. Funny thing is, I booted another computer of mine into safe mode (one that is working properly) to see if I could change the settings in safe mode and it would not let me. I wonder if this has anything to do with the monitor that I am using...

Also you might want to boot into safe-mode and see howmany display adaptors are listed. And delete any you are not currently using. Sounds like you might have recently changed video cards?
