Friend of mine is trying to instal XPsp2 on a Maxtor hdd using SATA2, however as soon as he gets to mup.sys the system will hang and refuse to go on. Is it a problem w/ the OS CD or the HDD and SATA2?

Perhaps you should rephrase your question if that's not what you meant.
