I have 3 points against me on my insurance, it's not points on my license though. The way it was explained to me insurance companies have their own point systems they use. I had a head on collison 4 years ago, which was not my fault, the other driver was ticketed for it. How is it they can give me points for that? The woman at the insurance company said there is nothing I can do about it, does anyone have a suggestion on who I can call to try to have this removed. It's not just my current insurance company that holds it against me, it will be every company I go to for at least 3 more years. I am furious!

I believe that their system is based not only on whether you've had tickets, but whether they've had to pay out any money to you or on your behalf. Insurance sucks, until you need it, that is.

I have a similar situation. I was in an accident last December, I skidded across the road and hit a car head on. The road was slick/icy and I hit a patch of black ice causing me to loose control. When the police report was filed, the cop that did it understood what happened and just gave me a warning (because the accident closed up the road) but did not issue me a ticket or a fine. There were no points put on my license either. But, when I got my new car and a new insurance company, they charged me extra because I was in that accident. I tried disputing it, but they said they have their own points system which is different than the way the DMV does it. Who knows.
