Need help pointing dns subdomain to new server

Have a dns record setup on a hosting server, let's call it blog.mysite.com with an A record to point a subdomain to an IP address over to GoDaddy.

When I go to blog.mysite.com, it's resolves to GoDaddy's 404 not found page which tell me the dns is at least pointing to the correct location.

What I want to do now is have some website content under blog.mysite.com on Godaddy's site so visitors can see the content instead of the 404 not found page message.

Have chatted with GoDaddy at least 5 times now about this, and either they are i am totally confused because each rep tells me something different and none of it works.

GoDaddy has told me to create a subdomain on there server with the same name as the blog which ddin't work, then they told me to create an addon domain of the same name on there server which didn't work.

Can someone please tell me what i need to do on GoDaddy's end to make this work so basically at the end of the day, i can put up something other than a 404 not found page when someone goes to blog.mysite.com.

Posting this here in hopes someone on Anandtech knows how to make this work as the reps at GoDaddy are giving me a migraine.

Thanks.

I just tested with my domain, and no matter what I tried, blog.mydomain.com wouldn't work.

  • blog.mydomain.com with root blog or blog2 doesn't work
  • blog2.mydomain.com with root blog2 works
  • blogblog.mydomain.com with root blogblog works
  • blog3.mydomain.com with root blog works
  • existing subdomains work

This is odd. I don't get an error page, though, just "DNS address could not be found" message in my browser. So, if you are actually using "blog", try a different subdomain and see if that works.

edit: I even tried blog.myaddondomain.net, and that worked as well...

edit2: This is using cPanel, but not GoDaddy.
