I want to make a Micro Atx system for my parents and want to use one of the micro atx cases. I was wondering what kind of PSU you guys would suggest to keep this stable..and still be M-ATX?...I can't find too many M-ATX PSUs about like 200w.

Abit NV7M
256 DDR ram
Modem
either 2000 or XP OS
Thermaltake 7
AMD XP 1600+
Artec 32x12x40
WD 40gb HD
FD

It will mainly be used for internet, word processor, and occasional internet.

There was another thread on power supplies today, 3rd one? 😉 But I saw one reply talking about 180 watt one being used and are ok. Just look for a quality one with good amperage on the 3V and 5V rails. 40 amps combined IIRC.

You think that is good. I saw an Antec 180W ...thought it wasnt enough. The highest I see is like 200W. ..Like this one

but if you think that 180W would do...I probably will go with Antec cuz I trust them a little more.

Why are you so insistant on making a micro unit? Counldn't you make a better system with small tower and 300 W PS? I never liked the desktop configuration and was glad to get away from it and you are wanting to go back to it, I don't get it.

Well..its not going to be my computer. Its going to be built for my parents and sister. The only thing they will ever really use it for is word processor, non-graphic like games, and occasional internet. The old K6-2 is a POS. My dad also want to save room on the desk so it can also be used for writing. I will not be using it all. My sister will probably only burn a cd once in a while. I am also trying to be as cheap as possible when doing this. I would opt for one of those mini-itx shuttle type systems but they cost more after you buy everything. I just want a system for the 'rents and not have them nagging me to fix it. I have a mini-mid atx case for myself..and its huge! Its bigger than the old computer and they want it to be smaller. This money is coming out of my pocket...so the cheaper the better. ..figuring up the total on all this stuff..the price is under $440. The price of one of those nice ITX shuttles for the case alone is like $300...plus processor, hd, RAM, CD-RW, Modem, and FD. ...so it would be around $625 for all of that. ...and I am a poor college student..so that $325 makes a difference! ...I owe my dad $300...so I figure the extra would be a "present". Now does it make sense?
