Ok was trying to fix my father's computer, he was having "ntldr is missing" error message. I searched didn't see anything about this. I inserted his windows xp disc and booted into recovery console, so I could copy ntldr file and/or netdetect.com file from the cd to root directory. First off, the recovery console never asked for a password or to choose windows installation. It went straight to C prompt. I thought ok well I will just copy into the directory. I then couldn't access any windows directory. Just has c:\ prompt and when I tried to access the c: directory it can't, something about directory enumeration or something. I looked at his winxp disc and it says 2002 version 1a.
Could this be the problem?
It wouldn't let me copy anything to that drive. It would say "can't copy file to specified directory"
My father lives 2 hours away, so any suggestions?

Thanks

Mike

It sounds like 1) you're booting to the wrong drive or 2) the OS partition and/or file system is hosed.
