So we have a server here at work that has been pretty reliable for the passed few years. It's been backing up nightly without a hitch. Well last night the backup failed, and Veritas recommended to reboot the server if the drive was internal to reboot the drive. Did that, and when I got back into Windows, the drive was not being recognized, so I thought maybe the tape drive took a crap on me so I needed to call their support.
Quantum support wasn't helpful at all, and long story short, on the SCSI controller, there was the tape drive (68-pin) and an OLD CD-ROM (50 pin). I took the CD-ROM off the SCSI card, and everything worked again.
Weird 😕
