I have just bought an Inspiron 8600 with ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 but it does not work correctly. When I install the drivers for the grafic card there are several problems. Windows XP Home cannot start the graphic card and when I try to change resolution, colors etc... the screen become black (but Windows is still running). I reset the computer and then when it loads the drivers the screen become black again although Windows is running in the background. no way. The only way to logon Windows is to do it in VGA mode. What can be the problem? Any solution? Thanks...
 
Are you sure you are using the right driver? I have also had this happen before where the OS chooses a driver over the one I installed. Force it to use the "Standard VGA driver" and reboot windows. Then force it to install your driver (use the "do not automatically install, I will choose the driver to install" option).
