I just got back from vacation and took some pictures with my digtial camera.

I went and bought a HP 7260 photo printer to print some of the pictures. The problem is I can print fine but everytime I try and print a 4X6 photo it only has the option to select (print with Tab) when printing. So when it prints it has like a 1/2 of were it doesnt print on the photo paper and want it to use the whole paper? I tried selecting cutom paper size and still does the same thing? Do I have to buy HP photo paper or something or maybe try useing another program?

Thanks!

Your particular printer doesn't support printing on normal 4x6 paper. Your printer requires the older HP Premium (or Premium Plus) photo paper that has an extra half inch tear away tab. The next printer up the line the 7660 supports use of normal 4x6 photopaper w/o tab (or you can use the tabbed paper if you wish, then tear it off). I would consider upgrading to the 7760 which gives you a lot more paper options and has more direct print options.

Upgrades from 7620 to 7660 include:

borderless 8.5 X 11"
proof sheet function
2-line text display
individual image selection
global photo adjustments
automatic pen alignment
reserve mode
2 built-in trays one for 4x6 photo media
19/15ppm

Any questions let me know, You could get a good deal on the 7660 at staples with a $30 dollar coupon of a $150 purchase.

Thanks for the reply. Kinda funny I was going to buy the HP 7660 model. But the sales guy even told me the regular 4X8 sheets would work fine in this model. I'll probably just keep it and pay more for the tabbed 4X6 sheets. Also I found 3 4X6 tab sample sheets with the printer today and Id have to eat my words the do look much better then the staples generic photo glossy. I had a $20.00 off coupon so it only cost me $80.00. Im going to return the 100 sheets I have now and pay the differance for some HP photo paper. At the end I might return it they said I can up to 2 weeks. I was also told it would print 8.5 X 11 photos but never said anything about borderless. 🙁 So it should print 8.5 X 11 photos but not borderless? When I get a chance Ill look at the printer properties and see if its grayed out. Its hooked up to another PC thats shut down at this time or id look real quick. While Im thinking he also said the factory cartridge only holds like 25% or what a new would would be. Is this true do you know? He said the one that comes with the printer was like a sample type deal. A new cartridge was $25.00.

Again Thanks!

The cartridges in the box are no different than the ones you buy off the shelf. HP no longer packages "starter" cartridges with their printers. They haven't EVER done it with the 56,57,58 catridges. They used to do it with the older ones. The salesmen maybe JUST trying to sell some extras with the printer or he doesn't know that HP no longer does this. Best Buy is well known for misleading customers on this issue. HP paper is nice paper. If you are think about upgrading printers, the 7660 is sweet. My money is being saved for a new 7xxx series printer as I type this.

I sell printers for a living, it's a part of my life. HP are in my opinion the best all around...

Thanks
Chucko

Enjoy the prints.....
