Need help picking server

Hello all 🙂

Need some help and looks like i am in the right place. Had a search through the forums but didn't find what i needed so here i am.

I would like to build a gameserver and need help picking out a barebones system to start with. While i am good with desktop hardware i am kinda lost when it comes to server hardware.

Preferrably would like to have this server in a 1u case. Cheaper colocation 🙂

Ok onto what the server will be doing.

It will actually be running a few different servers (software). The Gameserver, The Login Server and the MSSQL database server.

Needs to be able to hold at least 8GB of Ram and dual processors. The Harddrives will be pretty imporatant as far as speed goes for the MSSQL which will come under heavy load. Maybe a few 37GB scsi drives? Will need 1 storage drive as well.

Oh yeah 64 bit cpus i need 🙂

Thats about all i can think of right now. I live in canada and the best company i have found to order from is NCIX.

So which of the barebones systems int the below link do you think would be best?

These days, dedicated hosting usually makes more sense than colocation. Check out thePlanet.com insomnia gaming servers, or search/post in the WebHostingTalk.com forums.

I don't see anything that really matches what i need. And what comes even remotely close that i have found is $500 a month. I cannot afford that. The only way i can afford this is if i get my own and co-locate it. 🙂

Looks like nobody here knows much about these servers? I will bump 1 more time and than i gues i will just buy 1 and hope its good 🙁

I would look at your local supermicro vendor, and just order an SM...I have a 4GB dual Dualcore Xeon setup for ~2500 US
