Need help picking RAM for 8RDA+

Hi,

I'm thinking to upgrade to 8RDA+ w/ 2100+, and would like to get a stick of 512 MB PC3200 RAM.
Currently, my choices are Samsung and Kingston HyperX from Newegg. And I heard the Winbond is good too?
Anyone knows where could I get a good deal?

Thx

First, search the forums for discussions that will help you decide which brand(s) will work well for you. Then, cruise the Hot Deals forum, pricewatch.com,]http://www.pricewatch.com[/l],[/L] other deal sites, and circulars from your local stores to see where the best deal is on the RAM you choose.

Good luck. 🙂

I have a stick of PC3500 HyperX and it does well. Then I got a matching stick to run in dual and it would not do the 200mhz+ FSB that one stick did. So now I have them both in (not running in dual) and am at 205 FSB. I have heard that people are getting better results with Twinmos Winbond chips though.

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but what does it mean to run the RAM in dual? I'll be re-building my current PC and am trying to gather as much info as possible. I always just thought you pop the RAM in and you're set. Seems there's much more than just that...

Thanks,
Mike

The new nforce boards allow you to run 2 sticks of memory in dual channel mode. Not to sure of the specifics but it is supposed to give you in the neighborhood of 5-10% performance increase. But since I can't run in dual over 190 and am now running my FSB at 220, that 5-10% has been exceeded by the higher FSB. You can start reading up on dual channel here http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=feature_dualddr
