I'm getting an 1800+ Pal from a buddy of mine. But I want a DDR setup, not the sdram amd setup I have now.

So what do you think of me getting this for the cpu?

crucial 2700 ddr cas 2.5 512mb PN# CT6464Z335
Aopen nforce2 AK79D-1394 Motherboard for AMD Socket A w/ IEEE1394

this cpu does 1.7ghz with this http://store.yahoo.com/directron/dy1206bh610.html heatsink. But I'll add my 60mm 40cfm ys-tech fan on it to improve it even better.

The only question I have is will this mobo overclock this cpu very well? He did the oc with a iwill xp333-r and cas2 2100 ram "cheap stuff".

BTW.... is this aopen board fine? or should i go with the ABIT NF7-S V2.0 for $120 or MSI K7N2 for $130?

Thanks

i havent heard much about the aopen board yet so ill personally suggest an epox 8rda+ from newegg for $99. good price and a great overclocker :)

as for ram, if your goin with nforce2, you might wanna steer clear of 512mb sticks of crucial 2700. they just dont work together well. a couple of 256mb sticks of hyper x or corsair would work great in dual channel mode though.

with that kind of setup, you would probably be able to overclock well, but also other variants should be taken into consideration ;) good luck to ya!

the Epox motherboards are very nice, but go with a FIC. They make the m/b's for Epox, so they always have one identical, but up to 20 bucks cheaper. So identical that you can flash them with the Epox bios, in most cases. You can always find them at mwave.com.

I have the AN19E, great m/b, and may be upgrading to one of the FIC AU13 NForce2 m/b soon.
