Goodevening friends,

Looking for a new monitor to buy.
Got my eye on the asus pg279q. First i almost bought the 34 inch alienware but i dont like the curve.
Currently running the benq 2720Z and used to 144hz high refreshrate.
I know te pg279q is an old monitor but im not finding anything better. Would like to take the step tot ips and still want the fast response time.
Is there anything better then the Asus and under a 1000 dollars?
Thanks guys

A fellow guild member says his GTX 1070 feels like the bare minimum, (with some compromises) to enjoy 1440p@144hz.

As for display, I can personally vouch for the 1080p version of an Acer Predator XB271HU.
I'm sure it'd look ever better with the 1440p version.

If you are looking to go a little bigger I will suggest the LG 32GK850G. It's 32", 1440p, 144Hz, Gsync, VA panel, but the usual VA panel issues are very minimal to nonexistent. I swapped from a semi-pro 4k IPS panel to this one and was very happy with the change.

But what if i buy the PG279Q. This is an old monitor but still way better then my xl2720z. It's IPS 144hz and gsync. Should be a worthy upgrade and the gtx1080 would do fine right?

High refresh rate IPS panels are known to have quality control issues with sometimes truly horrendous backlight bleed.

A newer VA panel would be much better, especially for watching movies.

Any advise for a good one. 27 inch ?
27" 1440p VA panels are actually pretty rare

MSI MPG27CQ
Acer XZ271U
Samsung C27HG70

They're all curved panels, and they're all freesync (not G-sync)

The 32" LG one is the only 1440p G-sync VA panel I can think of.

And costly as well, right?

I've been considering a gaming monitor and it appears the perfect one does not yet exist. There is compromise with each one.
