Probably going to buy one soon.........and seeing how I'm not doing anything at work, might as well post now. ;) I was looking through newegg, cuz I know they have good prices, and I've dealt with them before. My question is, which of these would you go with?

AOpen 12x
Toshiba 16x

I save ~10 bucks with the AOpen, but how do they WORK? Is the AOpen reliable? Quiet? Get hot?

Stuff like that........anybody with either drive, or can direct me to a review, it would be greatly appreciated.

Aopen is a pioneer drive. They get hot, I have a fan blowing on my open case because DVD's would be warm to the touch after playing

Checm general hardware, someone posted a similar thread today

k, thanx.........hmmm, so if it's a Pioneer drive, the speeds are close, so there would really be no point in getting the pioneer on newegg, eh?

Go with the Toshiba. It's quieter, plus Toshiba's tend to read regular CDs better (sub-channel data), especially if you rip a lot of crap or ever want to make copies of cd's that have any kind of copy protection.
