I want a good digital camera in the $250 price range. I'd like to get as high a megapixel rating as possible without being too expensive. That being said, the largest I'd be printing a picture would probably be 8x10 (if that), mostly 4x6. I'd also prefer that it have the A/V out to connect to a TV.

I'll use it just for regular everyday point and shoot so I want it to be automatic in addition to manual mode and have red-eye reduction. Also, I think I'd prefer that it have the rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack.

The brands I've been looking at are Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Sony. I hear Nikon and Sony have good lenses.
If there are any cameras you could recommend let me know, or if you have any personal experience with a camera like this.

Thanks

Preferences on optical zoom? And let me tell you now, NEVER pay attention to digital zoom.

No real preference on mem type, I do like the SD though.

No SLR, just a regular everyday camera.

A small camera is nice, don't want something too big (or super super small either)

Also, I'd like a decent zoom, but not something that's gonna cost a ton.

Thanks, I was actually looking at the SD200. Would that give me nice prints even if I did want to print an 8x10 every so often?

The SD-200 is on sale at Best Buy right now, with rebates and discounts, for about $225 - a pretty amazing deal. I have the SD-400 and absolutely love it.

At 3MP, 8x10 shouldn't be a problem.

I agree..

I have the Canon LS 1 (10x Optical) and I LOVE IT.

3.2mp gets the job done, takes pics JUST as nice as my buddies Olymp 50/50.

I went with the A510 (it's in the mail!), the SD200 is a little too small for me. Just personal preference, but I think any Cannon would make you happy. They are known to be quality cameras. Let us know what you decide!

I have the SD300, it is a VERY NICE camera

The SD200 is comparable :)

Oh, and STAY AWAY from digital zoom. It degrades the picture

looks like the SD200 might be the way to go. The SD300 is a bit more pricy, like $50-60. Any major diffs between the SD200 and the A510 though?

Should make a decision soon, i think newegg had the SD200 for about $250.

Also. I saw newegg has the Nikon CoolPix 5900 and 5200 for about $15-20 more than the SD200 and they're 5MP. Would you recommend any of those over the Canon?
