need help picking a wireless g router

Greetings. I am in the market for a Wireless G router. I never thought there was much difference between routers, but in another topic, I read about people who "hack" their routers for improved use with bit torrent. I have no idea what this means for a router, but since I use Azureus (a bit torrent client) a lot, I thought I might be able to benefit from it.

So with that said, what are the alleged benefits of hacking a router and how do I do it? More importantly for now, which wireless router would you recommend I go with?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I'm not sure how much you plan on spending, but I suggest you check out the Buffalo WHR-G54S and the DD-WRT Firmware. I'm currently running a mix of Buffalos whr-g54s and wrt54g/gs routers in a local comunity wireless project - the buffalos have much better range then the linksys wrt54g routers and are easier to find(the new wrt54g(version 5+) routers aren't easy to get working with 3rd party firmware like dd-wrt). The only thing I don't like about the Buffalo routers is they are kind of picky about their power supply, but that only matters if you are thinking about doing POE.
