Need help picking a basic Web Cam

I've never used one, and I don't really even know exactly what I need.

I want the grandparents to be able to talk to kids while seeing them on the video feed. I'm worried that If I bought one of the cheaper ones, it will have really grainy and choppy video. Doesn't need to be high resolution, just something decent.

Also, do I need any thinkg extra. I already have a headset, but what software do you need to send the video live?

Any suggestions/advice.

Logitech and Creative are probably the brands you want to be looking at. A lot of this depends on how much you're willing to pay, what program you want to use, and what kind of bandwidth is available. If they're on a dial-up connection, for instance, that's a real constraint to image quality anyways.

In terms of software, any of the big IM clients should support any of them fine.

My guess is something like the Logitech Quickcam Chat should be more than enough.

Thanks for the reply.
All parties have Broadband, so that's not an issue. I was looking at the Quickcam Chat, but some of the Newegg reviews were complaing of bad quality video, while other were very happy. Not sure what to think there.

Anyone ever use the Logitech Quickcam Chat Webcam?
