Ok my main concern is this new 4k sectors. I don;t knoe how to check compatibility.

I will be using 2 of these in a server running windows server 2k8 R2. The current MB only supports SATA II 3.0 GBps, but I assume these are backwards compatible. I will be running them in windows software mirror raid as the chipset is an ICH7R with an intergrated LSI mega raid. I hear it is buggy, so I will just stick with software raid in windows.

So which is a more durable drive? Which would you pick?

I am using them for storage, and streaming over a gigabit network. So the network will be more of a bottleneck than the speed of the drives.

After having a hard drive fail on me after the warranty ran out and then being left with a worthless doorstop, I go with hard drives with the longest warranty I can find. In this case since the Hitach is 3 year and Seagate 2 years, I'd opt for the Hitachi.

BTW do you know the RPMs on that Hitachi? I couldn't find it.
