Need Help - PC boot up problem

I started getting error at the start up of my PC

SVChost.exe - Application error
The instruction at "0x7c9111de" refernenced at memory at "0x00000000"
the memory could not read.

I tried to boot up from XP CD, but same error.
I have XP Home as operating system. is is virus or my HD failure?

Any help?

If the computer you're using now can burn .ISO to a CD, then try making a Memtest86 CD, boot the computer from it, and let Memtest86 perform at least one complete loop of tests. This can take a while, so don't expect it to be just a 5-minute test.

It might help to have your system specs, including brand & model of the RAM and other parts.
