Hi guys just needed a bit of help overclocking my new computer. Just to let you know i am a total newbie when i comes to overclocking and this is my first try at it. My computer setup is gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l, intel e6550 @2.33ghz, gskill 4g ddr2 800, seagate 250g hd, antec 900 case, antec earthwatts 500w ps, ac freezer 7 pro.

for my first time overclock i just set the fsb value to 360 with my mulitiplier set at 7. cpu-z is reading my memory running at dram freq of 432.0 mhz with a fsb:dram ratio of 5:6. my temp seemes to hover around 42 c when i look at it in the bios. The only things i have played with in the bios is changing the fsb value, setting the voltage to auto and i set the ram to 5-5-5-15 instead of the auto that it was on. I am not trying to get a huge overclock but just wanted to make sure i was not doing something horrible wrong on my first overclock. any advice you can give me would be a great help.....thanks guys

The only thing that matters is that the overclock is stable and the RAM is not being fried. The idle temp, while high, is acceptable, although i dunno if you did something wrong. Instead, fire up Orthos or Prime95 overnight and use coretemp's log. If you are still running in the morning, look at the log and check your highest temperature. Make sure it isn't over 60-70C.

Read graysky's guide sticked at the top of this forum, it has a lot of good information on overclocking Core2Duos.
