I need some help overclocking my system:( I'm a total noob, and this is my first a64 system
A64 3500+ Venice
Gigabyte GA k8nxp-9
Geil 1G Value Dual Channel - 2 x 512 kit
Xpertvision 6600GT PCI-E
Zalman VF700-CU
Zalman CNPS-7000B-CULED

I've tried to prepare for it by buying aftermarket coolers
I'd be grateful if you could recommend some stuff to me:D

well there are a couple of "overclocking guide" threads in these forums, this is at the top of the CPU category:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=28&threadid=1497607&enterthread=y

there are similar threads all over the net.

basicly there's not much to read about it too - for a beginner, i'd recommend that you go get Clockgen for nForce4 and try some overclocking through software instead of messing in the bios. this way if yuo mess up, a reboot will get you back to stock :) a 10% OC should be fairly easy without any bios changes at all.

once you've read up more, and feel more confident about what you're doing you'd need to change some bios settings though, as you can't play with HT multiplier, ram dividers/ratios or cpu/ram voltages with clockgen (ok, it does have some cpu voltage settings but they only work up to 1.45 last time i checked)

i'm in the same boat OP. the only oc'ing i did before was with clockgen because my old mobo had next to no settings.

i tried a few "optimaized" settings i found on dfi.street but i'm back at stock right now. i did get a better understanding of the relationship between the settings tho so maybe you can pick up some stuff at gigabytes forums.

zebo's guide actually makes a ton more sense to me now and i'm trying that later tonight. but to an amd and oc noob i was a little confused/apprehensive using it because it's not that in depth.
