Need help overclocking on 8RDA+

I fairly new to the overclocking scene and would like some help on overclocking my system.

Here is current system specs:

MB:8RDA+ v1.1 with the lastest bios update

CPU:Athlon 2100XP AIUHB 0304

Fan/Heatsink:SLK-800(A) with a temporary Panaflo 80mmx80mm Fan

Ram:2xSamsung 512mb DDR333 PC 2700 Link

Video Card:Atlantis Radeon 9500 123MB

First off, What should be settings for the Ram in bios? How can I test if it will support 400mhz? What speeds can I expect to get with my current system?

Thanks

Maybe 7-3-3-2.5 memory timings to start with. Once you get a feel for how OC things are going, you can play with faster timings. Ultimately it will be a bit of trial and error.

Odds are you can get up to around 2200mhz, but 2x200mhz fsb may be a different story. I have one 2100+ that would run stable at 12x196mhz and another that would run stable at 12x185mhz (or thereabouts) with the same mobo and ram (XMSPC3200 @ 5-2-2-2) with memory frequency at 100%/sync.

One note: On a stock 8RDA+, the northbridge (NB) heatsink is mounted with a little sticky pad that probably isn't all that effective. I took off the NB heatsink and removed the sticky. Then I put on a coat of ASIII. The NB is concave, so it took a little extra in the middle. I think that helped. Later I added a Vantec Iceberq to the NB and put a small passive heatsink on the southbridge. Both seemed to get rather hot, and others claimed that they were able to get higher OC with better cooling on the NB and SB. I don't know if that is necessary, but I think both helped me a bit. Check out www.8rdafaq.com for some good information about the 8RDA+, including mods and OC tips.
