Need help overclocking EVGA 680i board. Please help!

Hi!

I just put a system together using an EVGA 680i board, an E6400 and DDR2 800mhz RAM.

I went in the bios and changed the FSB to 1600 (400) and the RAM to 800mhz (Both unlinked.

I also changed the CPU Voltage from AUTO TO 1.310V and was able to install windows @ 3.2ghz.

My problem here is that I am very confused with all the settings in the BIOS. All the HT X 5 stuff and the additional Voltage settings are new to me. The 3 PCI-e settings? Linked? LinkBoost?

Someone please tell me what to enable and / or disabled?

Also, the northbridge heatsing is BURNING HOT (no fan attached yet) TOO HOT in fact. Why is this?

I have another system using an Asus p5wdg2 ws pro which uses a passive NB cooler and it is very cool at 460 FSB.

Thank you in advance!

Just curios, how is 1400 equivalent to 400 FSB?

If you want, add a fan to NB. Get a small fan and strap it on with ziptie 🙂. But you're probably fine. I think my DS3's NB is also hot to touch...

LOL about your confusion on all the options... The mobo description probably has something on LinkBoost and so on... Also there's an article on anandtech specifically about 680i.

FIXED to 1600! (oops)

I've been reading a lot, I even got this PDF file which has helped a lot!

http://www.nvidia.com/docs/CP/45121/...erclocking.pdf

However, there are some basic settings that I really don't understand and haven't found the answer for:

SPP MCP REF CLOCK MHZ (AUTO) 250 (WTH is this?)

What about the HT multiplier (NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS EITHER)

Voltages:

Nforce SPP?

Nforce MCP?

HT Nforce SPP MCP?

And what about the PCI lock (33.33)? Where is this setting?
