Hello, I am having a bit of trouble with my system. As it is I am running my 2500+ at 12.5*175 with timings of 2-3-3-6. My multiplyer is as high as it will go with out connecting the L1s, and I dont plan on doing that. I am running Corsair XMS PC2700 memory, but can only get it to run at 350mhz (175*2). I would think that XMS could run faster than this. I am a novice overclocker and need a bit of help from someone with a bit more experience. Do I need to up my memory voltage?
To test that it is my memorys fault and not the board, I set the memory ratio to 50% and ran the FSB at 200mhz, it booted fine. I then did the opposite by setting the ratio to 166% and set the FSB at 110mhz yielding a memory clock of 199mhz... It didnt boot at all.
Shouldnt XMS be able to run faster than that?
Thanks for the help.

corsair xms 2700 not LL actually uses 7.5ns 133mhz chips overclocked to 166, which is why they typically need 2.8v to be stable at 166

Even though the ram is rated for 166, since its Corsair, it should be able to do at least another 9mhz (175) but then again, all ram is different. When at 175, try relaxing the timings perhaps, to like 2.5-3-3-7 or something. What voltages are you using?

I have the 2700 XMS and with the 8rda (not plus) and I can only get about 179-180 on my FBS. I can run games at 180 but occasionally crash after a few hours of play, so I run it at 179. I had it at 183 but started having issues, with reboots.

Not sure what rev of the board I have, that could be the issue. If not then its the memory. Im getting some TwinX 3200LLPT soon, I will let you know if I can get that up higer.

Upping your memory voltage may help, just don't raise it too high. I'd stay under 2.9V.

I too am overclocking a Barton 2500+ on an 8RDA+ board. My system is different that yours in that I am using Kingston HyperX rather than Corsair XMS. My 2 x 512MB sticks run in DCDDR mode at 100% with a FSB of 190MHz at 6-2-2-2.0 at 2.63V. I'm pretty happy with that. :)

PC2700 is rated for PC2700. Anything extra is just gravy so just be happy that you got that extra 9 MHz. If you really want to dive into some serious overclocking, then get yourself some PC3200 or higher rated memory...that is if you have the extra $$.
