Need help overclocking 8500~~

Right now, i can run at 275/300 from LE OEM (used pencil trick, core 1.75v and 3.62~65v mem). For some reason, i can not oc my core any further without locking up or crashing (my goal was to oc it to 300). I have stock cooling right now. I was wondering will a better core cooler helps? should i raise the core to 1.9v w/ using new cooler? WIll that hit 300core speed? please help me u all overclocker experts =)

You might try replacing the stock hs with a crystal orb.

Ati uses a haphazardly applied heatconductive adhesive instead of pin mounting and high quality conductive grease. I could not get over 290MHz with-out lock-ups/artifacts with the stock set-up. I removed the heatsink, applied ASII and secured it with superglue at two corners of the GPU and now I hit 301.5MHz as the max celing for reliable operation.

Be careful when removing the stock heatsink. Some come right off, some are extremely difficult.
