Hi,
I am going to get Cox @home cable modem next week. I want to share the connection with other occupants in this 2 story house. I do not want to extensive wiring. I heard there is technology called PhonePNA which enable you to share the 1 internet connecion with multiple computer through existing phone line. Has anybody done this? What kind of products I need to buy (I will get cable modem from my cable company.) ? Also where I can buy the products. I live in Southern California. I went to Fry's electronics here. They do not have products for this purpose.

You're in luck.

If you just want to share a cable modem, then you can get this:

http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HOMEFREEK

It's two pna cards for 12.50 which is dirt cheap. They only go to 1MBps, but this is usually fast enough for cable. Cable is supposed to hit 1.5, but most people get way less.

You also need a PNA bridge that allows the phone network to connect to the cable modem or home network. These PNA bridges are around $200 for a 10 MBps one or about $80 for a 1 MBps one at buy.com

Thanks blstriker. I got the same advice from a guy at MicroCenter too. I did some research online afterwards. I saw a review on pratical network. There is a High Performance Cable/DSL Router by 2Wire called HomePortal 100. It has connection to both modem and phone line. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone! I am going to buy this baby.:)
