I just got a antec true power 430W today. After I hooked all the wires up and fired it up.
It was very nice and quiet, but when I take a close to the fan of the PSU. I could not feel any air flow coming out from the case (very very little air flow compare to my old crappy one). I want to know if that is how they deisgn it or what?

Thanks

I need all of your input!

If you want good airflow and less noise, you really should have gone for a PSU with one single 120mm fan.

Well I have one and yes it doesn't move a lot of air but it does move enough to cool itself. I am not entirely sure cause I got the trublue 480 and the fan might be different since it has blue leds.

Your PSU is powerful and and should run pretty quietly with plenty of airflow. Taken from Antecs site:

"This power supply is designed with an advanced temperature response system to run at minimal speed until the temperature rises pass the threshold of 45 Celsius. Many motherboards have minimum fan speed detection thresholds that are above TruePower's minimum fan speed, and so they detect 'no speed' when in fact the fan is running properly. You can disable the motherboard utility to stop the warning. Your main concern should be whether your system is running well, by which we mean no freezing or automatic rebooting. If your system is working fine, then there is no problem with the power supply."

A True Power PSU above 430W will have a fan speed range of 900 to 3800 rpm. What you are seeing in your situation is normal. Fan speed will increase as needed. 80mm/92mm psu fans turning 3000+rpm will move quite a bit of air.

Yeah, I had a 550 True Control that was the same way. Nice and quiet for normal usage. Under heavy gaming, the fans spread their wings. That PSU was rock solid, very impressive. I am sure yours will treat you well....

i have the true430 and its stays pretty quiet...however when it gets really hot...usually when the room is 80F and i'm pushing my cpu as far as i can and priming...itll get louder since it gets hotter...so as everyone else said...dont worry about it..its fine

TruePowers are quiet and usually have to be under a fairly high load before the fan's will start spinning faster.

Muckers statement:

"A True Power PSU above 430W will have a fan speed range of 900 to 3800 rpm. What you are seeing in your situation is normal. Fan speed will increase as needed. 80mm/92mm psu fans turning 3000+rpm will move quite a bit of air."

Is pretty much my experince with the TruePower series from Antec...Muckers quote from Antec finally explains to me anyway why you really cannot hear the fans speeds being adjusted until a high load is placed on the supply.

I have also heard that they adjust the power output according to demands placed on the supply leaving people with the impression that the rails are low when testing at idle but will adjust the output as system demands increase.

Nice power supply...Have one in "Bessie" my first big time (to me anyway) build and it really takes putting a heavy load on the supply before the fans start increasing speed.

So I absolutey agree with Muckers assesment that you supply is operating just exactly how it was desinged.

Also from Mucker,

"That PSU was rock solid, very impressive. I am sure yours will treat you well...."

He's right.
