Okay, I've been mildly interested in telescopes for years now, but I could never really afford a nice one, now I've saved my money, but I dont know which to get. Is there someplace on the net that i could find a good forum to talk to people that are experienced with this sort of thing? (Google has turned up forums that are outdated/dead)

Does anyone here have any suggestions on them for me?

The best rescorce is your local library.
Depending what you want to look at and how portable you want your scope will determine what to get.
Here is a link to one site and you should be able to navigate from there.

AstroMart forums are a pretty good resource.

Try to find out if there is an astronomy club near you. Sky & Telescope has a listing by state or possibly country on their website.
Or contact a local school or collage for info.

There's aloty of questions that need answered before you should buy a scope.
How well do you know the sky now? Do you know your constellations?
What type of objects do you want to look at?
Do you have to transport the scope to a dark site?
Photography?
Computerized or manual pointing?
