hi,
i need help removing red hat linux 7.2 off my harddrive. i installed the thing for some programming courses but realized that i didnt like programming so i need help removing it. im dual booting to with windows 2000 and i really dislike that GRUB boot loader coming up before anything. i've tried rewriting the MBR with fdisk but it keeps giving me the error: cannot save original MBR. operation unsuccessful. any other suggestions as to how i can uninstall red hat would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

You should be able to set the boot back to original with Windows 2000 'fdisk /mbr'. After that, you will probably need to run the Win2K rescue process to get the boot loader to set up with the proper partitions. Then, you should be able to use Disk Administrator to remove and/or recreate/reformat the old partitions to either Fat or NTFS.

i tried the fdisk /mbr method already..guess i wasnt really clear on my first post but when i tried that, it gave me the error: cannot save original MBR ( or something close to that)..any other suggestions ? and thanks, by the way, for responding..

Windows 2000 has a feature called the recovery console. Boot using your CD and run a repair through the recovery console. Logon with your Administrator account password and then run fixmbr. If you want more information on the commands available to you then get into your help in the start menu and type in recovery console and then choose commands from the display menu.
