I am building a new system, but can't decide on the processor. It will be early summer before I ever get all the money together. I want it to at least be 1 Ghz. Should I get the T-bird or should I wait for the P4 to become available. While speed and reliability are my main selling points, the less expensive the better. From what I've heard a 1.5 P4 sells for around $400 or more, while I can get a T-bird for a little over $200. What is the best processor or best deal?

First and foremost... ALWAYS GET AN AMD ... they perform better and cost u less $$

Now, if you are getting it in the summer... you should get a Duron or the Morgan (i'm not sure when it's supposed to come out)... they should have a ghz by summer (or i hope). Also, start looking into DDR systems... more options will come out and the price will go down... so keep up with DDR.

The TBird 1.2 performs equivalent or better than the P4 1.5ghz...

..

The T-Bird is the best deal. That's all I have to say and I'm pretty sure that everyone else will agree.

Thanks, I was thinking about the T-bird. I'm new at this (All I know I learned from PC Hardware in a Nutshell), but if your talking about the DDR SDRAM my system will almost definitely have that.

Don't forget that to use DDR SDRAM, you must have a motherboard that supports it.
