Need help on OC my 2500 XP-M Thx

Im having difficulty getting my FSB up for my new AMD 2500 xp-M

Specs:
Abit NF7-s
1G Kingston Hyper X PC 4000 ( 3-3-3-8) (got for $170 🙂)
2500 XP-M
Nvidia 5900
CoolerMasterPraetorian
and Therimalright 947 with some cheap Antech fan. (getting vantec Tornado soon)
antec SL 350

My system wont go over 193FSBx11 under CPU stress test of prime95. (havnt try too much with multi yet). The system will boot up at 200FSB x 11, but it will crash when I turn on the prime95. Most of time my system will just shut off instantly with warning sign coming out of my MotherBoard. Even at 195 FSB the prime95 will crash. Im not sure if it is my PSU or just the Board wont take anything over 200 FSB. I know my PSU is very weak, getting a new one soon.(Voltage at 1.65) tried 1.7 but my computer instantly turned off. Please give me some helpful advise, thank you.

My CPU is in 30s when I first turn on and heat up to 50 C max when I run prime95 for like 6 hrs +
So I dont think its the auto shutsoff function.

Base on CPU-Z, My bios is Phoenix Tech 6.0 PG and the date is 04/22/04. I still think its my Powersupply since I only have an Antec SL 350. Could be the overload Protection from my PSU?
Regarding to the mem, I only paid for 170 for 2x 512, thats like the price for those value rams. 🙂 (BB got those $100 with 25 dollar rebates awhile ago)

Can any one conclude that my PSU is hitting the wall and I cant OC any higher unless I get a new PSU?

got 2 HD
2 Opitcal Drives
4 Case fan came with case
5900 Regular

I know my PSU is not very stable at 2.1 G but running no error with prime95. It actually turned off while I was playing WC3.

and which one is better TT pure 480? or Antec true 480? TT is 20 dollar less but with only 18A on V12+

what wall are you hitting?

i'm pretty sure that if you're being stopped around the 225 mark, that you will need an L12 mod..

i had a chip capable of 250 mhz on a dfi infinity but couldn't do above 225 on my nf7-s

try unplugging as much as possible. opticals, excessive fans and so on. try to save as much power as possible. if it still lockups then it might be related to something else.

Hey, what power is the CPU (VCore)getting, try changing you ram settings to 3 3 3 10 or maybe 3 3 3 11, Nforce 2 chipsets seem to prefer these settings, maybe the ram itself is dodgey, i can run my XP-M 2500+ at 220Mhz X 11, 1.8volt VCore, 2X512Mb Adata PC3200 using gigabyte 3D gooler pro running at 3000rpm and have a idle temp of 45 degrees C and max temp around 58 Degrees, but i prefer to run at 12X200Mhz as the max temp is olny around 50Degrees.

The Kingston HyperX PC4000 Ram has been posted in this forum (by me and many others) to be incompatible with the NF7-S V2 mobo. That is likely your problem.

Instead try:
Kingston Value Ram (PC3200) - if you are not looking for more than 200 FSB.
Kingston HyperX (not exceeding PC3500)
Or any model of the following:
Muskin
Corsair
KingMax
Buffalo Tech

All of the above have been reported to be very successful on the NF7-S v2.0 by myself and others on this and other boards/forums.

thx guys I will try those options. I have another spare OCZ basic ram so I will try with that too. Getting the 480 Truepower Antec now, so shouldnt be a prob when my PSU come. Ya spend too much money on upgrades already lol, will a learning lesson that I have to pay hehe. Pretty fun

BTW: I have successfully gotten to a very stable 2400Mhz (200x12) with the SL350 you were using in a very similar system (slightly different graphics card). Anyhow, I don't think that was your problem and am willing to bet it is just the RAM. The Antec True 480 is a nice PSU though...

I probably got a S*&tty SL 350. cuz I got too many fans(4) from my case and 4 more for my drives + one goes to my 5900. The system will restart at minimal OC. Prob my room temp is too high too hehe. I dont turn my pc off. I let it run all night. I will OC against once my PSU gets here. I highly doubt the ram is giving me prob, cuz I have another spare of OCZ with heatsink and itself does the same thing. Thx tho, I will keep on playing with the setting. 🙂

Just got an ANtec true 430 from BB. Still didnt work at 200 FSB. Its has better response, but still crash my system. I guess either my CPU or my MB dont wanna go that high. oh well 192x11 at 1.55 V runs pretty stable under prime 95. I guess that will be it and I will return the PSU to BB.

Setting was at 200x 11
Voltage at 1.65 - 1.7 didnt work on both
memory at 3-3-3-8

Did you swap the RAM? I didn't see this mentioned. I know for certain that the Kingston HyperX PC4000 RAM has an issue on this Mobo...
