Need help on getting better picture on split cable line

The Cable installer ran the line to my TV in the living room, then used a splitter and ran that to my office/computer room...I took the splitter off and used my VCR as the splitter instead. All well and good, but the signal from the splitter/VCR to my office is degraded.

What can I get that will give me better quality?

Thanks for any help.

If its normal analog cable, you can grab a line amplifier from Radio Shack for ~$20.00.

Just make sure you put it BEFORE the splitter, otherwise you'll be amplifying the degraded signal.

Thanks N8Magic.

Here's another question, since I'm using the VCR as the splitter...Whenever I turn the VCR on, it TOTALLY kills the signal going to the office.

Any idea on what I can do?

When you go to buy your amplifier, grab a splitter. They are SUPER cheap, and it is specifically made to do switching, so the degradation won't be nearly as bad.
