Need help on Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion

Has anyone here played Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion lately? I need some help. I'm at the stage where I just closed the first Oblvion gate in Kvatch. My character is at lvl 4 right now and when I go to sleep to advance to lvl 5 he gets afflicted with some kind of Vampire illness.

I'm not sure why, but after a while, he slowly starts to drain health until he dies. I can't seem to figure out if it's the Vampire thing that's causing it, or something else, but I don't know how to fix it. Any advise from those of you who have played it? Thanks.

He is a vampire..

When you go into the Sun, you lose health....

There is a quest to cure but it is difficult

If you want a quicker way out, get the Vile Lair plug-in and its you can restore yourself...at a cost...($1.89, I think)

Before you go to sleep, visit a temple and pray at an altar. Until you sleep, you are not a vampire but just have an illness which will cause you to become a vampire, so it is possible to cure it at a temple. I know this is how it worked with my character.

for praying you have to be an upstanding citizen. your infamy can't be too high.

Definately the easier option if it is open to you. I think you get like 4 days or something from the bite until it becomes permanent. If you are sleeping once then getting hurt by the sun I could be wrong.

Once it is permanent you need to move at night. If you feed on someone (shares interface with pickpocketing a sleeping person) then you can go in the daylight for a day, take mild damage the next day, severe damage the next day ..

There are some advantages to being a Vampire too.

I love this game. I'm playing it on my PS3 on a 56 inch DLP with 5.1 surround sound.... love it I tell ya.

I read how difficult it is to cure the illness. I went to bed once and there was a story popup that told me a vampire came and visited me and bit me. Thankfully I had a auto-save, I just hope I don't get that all the time, cause then I'll just be nocturnal, hehe

Potion of cure disease as well as several alchemy ingrediants like mandrake will also cure you after you are infected but have not yet becone a full vampire.
