I've been build desktops over the years and I'm interesting in building my own laptops. Heard some reports certain companies like Asus is getting into standardizing parts. I'm wondering if anyone here has any experiences in that and could some pointers.

I'm planning on the following:
Asus C90S - $700
2GB SODIM - $50
200GB/HD - $100
C2D T8100 - $220
.
don't need a dvd-rom for this. make it lighter.

i think OCZ is also

several companies are doing bare bones D-i-Y that i saw last week at NVISION.

Some of them were even gaming laptops and i say one SLi that is not ready yet to sell

but it looks like it is going to happen and there will be competition

about time!

check google and if you like, i can look thru the *pile* of literature i got at Nvision

thanks. I don't need a gaming portable yet. I have noticed that the g-card option isn't an option for laptop barebones. It would be nice if they are. I think I will google up the info, seems not many people has gotten into laptop building yet.

let us know what you find .. perhaps if there is enough info it could also go into GH and/or notebooks

i think it is brand new and will get a lot better as these companies discover a way to make it compelling for us to build over buy

i know i'd plan for the future - to upgrade the CPU and video card at least once
