Need help on Cutting Chrome Orb heatsink

metal saw as in a hacksaw?
probably seeing as how they are just a few fins which are relatively thin
it doesnt have to be clean anyways, just chop off enough to clear the caps

a dremel would work too with a metal cutting bit if you have access to one

Dunno why you wasting time on that chrome thing. Mine is a paperweight for the last 2 years. Get an SVC GC68 for $6 and you should be OK.

I paid over $10 for each chrome 1 or 2 years ago and don't want to waste money on buying a new fan for non-overclock system. They should be better than AMD stock fan

Thanks for the tips on Dremel cut-off wheel. I never bought a rotary tools and that might be a good excuse to buy those things

If it is just the fins that are getting in the way of the capacitor, use needle nose pliers to bend it back and forth and it will break off easily.

I used a large metal file on mine, worked good. but the HSF really sucks... it doesn't cool well and is relatively loud (I hate noise). using a file lets you file off just the amount you need to and much cleaner than a saw.
