Perhaps upgrading from 600 to 800 is not such a good idea. Performance gains are maginal, depending on the rest of the system, and most of the time you would not be able to tell that much of a difference. If you were to do an upgrade, I would recommend a larger speed increment, or some other component.

What else do you have in your system? I think that the benefit of going from 600 to 800 is doubtful and not worth the money.

Generally it is difficult, or at least not that easy, to upgrade pre-assembled systems.

Ah....I see from the specifications that this is a 440BX system, with an 8MB PCI nVidia Riva TNT video card. If you are playing games, then rather than upgrading your processor, you would get a lot more bang for buck by purchasing an new AGP video card....something like a GeForce 2 MX would really help the system.

I second that. Your video card is outdated. I just got a Geforce MX and I can see a nice improvement.

Too bad you can't overclock. That is the cheapest upgrade available, and you probably could have run that thing near 800.

I am still running a Celeron 330a @ 450, and recently upgraded from a TNT 16 meg, to a GeForce 2 32 meg DDR. My Quake 2 scores went from 45fps to 125 fps. I agree with the video card upgrade first. (I'll be upgrading my processor/mb to a TBird hopefully in the next month.:D)

thanks for the info guys. i've already added a v4 agp so all in all the 600 doesn't do too bad.
my intentions were to up the 128, and add the 800( the board has jumper settings for the 800.
i was wanted to do some stuff on a budget. even though it's an hp,it came with 128 megs,27 gigs,
dvd,cd r-w,usb and yada yada. i got it a month old for $630. bucks so i don't think that was to bad. my intentions are to gut it and with a new mo-bo and tower try to have a descent non-name
brand computer. all you're heip is appreciated and i'm still interested in the correct# for that 800,thanks again,,,,terry
