Need help on choosing video capture stuff.....

Well I am building a computer for a friend...and i chose Geforce2 MX as his vid. card....he emailed me back a few days ago saying that he needs a card that can do video capturing and editing...so my question comes down to this...
1.) should i just stick with the MX and tell him to buy a separate video caputring device?
or
2.) suggest a video card combo that already comes with the stuff needed...like Matrox Marvel or ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder....

Out of the 2 options which will be cheaper? How about the quality of the device and video capturing?
And any suggestions on the brands of capturing device would be helpful....thanks!!!!

First step is to decide what capture format you need: digital, analog, or both.
Then be realistic about your needs: are you a casual user, or a pro/sem-ro who needs high speed rendering and special effects
Decide your output needs: web, digital, or analogue
How much are you willing to spend? (maybe that ought to be the first question)
