need help on choosing graphic card

im just got my retail edge package and now i need a new video card. i haven't been keeping up about all the info and specs like i used too, so maybe someone could help me out. first of all, ATI or GeForce ??? 2nd my price range is around $200-$250 oh yeah, pci express only. that why im not using my old geforce ti4600. thanks for any info / help.
