I know lots of people got this camera. Its a great camera, but I don't know how ot use it except auto... :)
How are you guys getting closeup shot so clear? I am trying to take a closeup shot of my business card and its not clear when I turn the flash off. If I set to auto the flash gets on and the card is white out by the flash.

Please help. A guy here (ATOT) who works for Dell now that moved out from the Bay Area. ;)

you have macro on, correct? I suggest getting some extra light on the subject, a lamp or something

Macro is the "M" right?

A wise man in the name of liron or something like that (sorry!) said it was due to the shutter speed.

It is blurry because when the flash is on the shutter speed is slower to allow time for the flash, then when it is off as there is no need to wait for a flash. Lower the shutter speed (making it faster) so you will get less blur but the image will also be dimmer unless you have adequate lighting. Also camera shake. Try using a tripod also. Also the closer you are the less light there is for the camera.

You go into Macro by pushing the MF button (flower icon) at the bottom of the navigation buttons. If you put it on P instead of Auto on the mode dial, it will not automatically flash. You need lots of light. Try it outside.

I find the Macro mode on my A70 is very good, both on focus and exposure. Here is an example:

I have the A60 and I too am trying to figure out macro mode. I realize it's for close ups, but other than that what should I know? Should I have to zoom on or off? How far away should the lense be from the subject? What exactly does marco mode do that normal mode doesn't?

Most of these answers can be found in the manual.... So, hate to say it, but RTFM...

General tips of photography. A tripod helps produce better shots. Or a really good steady hand. More light, and more more more light. If you still can't get a clear shot in macro mode, your probaly too close for the A70. THe nikons have a better range for macro shots.
