Need help on a laptop...

I am gonna buy a new laptop for school. I also play alot of games so I would like a fairly decent graphic card in it. I am looking at a Dell XPS M170 with a nvidia 7800 GT. I was just wondering what you guys thought about his computer or if you have any other recomendations when it comes to laptops?

Looking for a Cpu that is at least 2.GHz
Ram at least 1GB
Graphic card at least nvidia 6800
60 gig hard drive 7200rpm

Also I see on the Dell XPS M170 that I am looking at (http://www1.us.dell.com/content/product...snb_m170?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn)
That the top CPU I could get is only a 2.26 GHz.

Now I know that the first generation of Dell Laptops came with a 3.0 GHz CPU. I was just wondering why did they down grade on the newer model? Is there something special about the Pentium M that is offered with the computer?

Thanks ALOT in advanced!

The XPS your looking at has the best cpu intel makes for laptops right now. This cpu will run circles around the 3Ghz P4 that your speaking of while consuming lots less power.

Those laptops would have used some variant (mobile or desktop) of Pentium 4 processors. P4s, of course, clock very high but are rather inefficient, whereas Pentium-M processors do much more work per cycle than P4s but run at lower clock speeds while performing as well or better. A 2.26GHz P-M should be able to clean the floor with a 3.0GHz P4 in many situations.

As for the computer, that's pretty much as good as you can get in a laptop, and that's probably one of the lowest prices for those specs right now. If you really think you need that kind of performance, then it's a decent buy.
