i got an athlon xp 1800 and epox 8kha+. i was doing some overclocking i was just adjusting the fsb. i got teh fsb up to 148 with the retail hsf and thermal pad. my temps 42 idle and 46 full load. i was wondering why do people up the vcore because i was think about doing that but wasn't sure. Also, do you i think i would get a better overclock if i use thermal paste. i have some generic brand and not AS3. Thanks for the help in advance.

People increase the vcore because it tends to increase system stability and allow for greater overclocks. Those temperatures are pretty good, don't expect much more out of the system with AS3.

should i get a new hsf? Can you point my in the direction of some good hsf for teh athlon xp. I really dont like a loud one, but one that is better than the retail hsf. Thanks

well for being retail thats pretty good
some good heatsinks you can pair pretty muchany fan up with :

alpha pal 8045
swiftech mcx462
thermalright (i think) ax7

i personally would buy alpha or swiftech if the motherboard has the 4 holes around the socket

also upping the vcore will most likely yield a better oc

is this the board that doesnt have the 1/5 pci divider? i cant remember
