first im a noob

second i have read the OC guide sticky and took notes on options that need changing, but in my bios (F8 - which is the latest) some of the options are either named differently or dont even have these options

what do i need to change to get to 3.6 GHz (for now)

????????????????????????????????????

Hi,

First off, if you enter bios, use the control, f1 keys to give you all the settings for that board. You will gain the memory timings with this option.

After that, if you are using the E8400 as your cpu, try using default voltage ( whatever your VID is of your chip ) and set it to that. Set your memory Ratio to 1:1, which is 2.00 on that board. Set your memory timings to what the default timings are. Lock the FSB to 100Mhz. Also make sure you have the memory speed set to "standard" and the Robust video setting to "fast" NOT turbo.

Your chip should get pretty far on default voltages so give it a shot and do some bench tests for stability

Ok awesome

1) my ram is rated at 4-4-4-12 @2.1V, when i installed it the mobo autodetected 5-5-5-15 1.8V so i changed it to the faster spec already by using control+f1
2)my stock voltage is 1.168V at 9x333 (3.0GHz) you are saying to try at stock voltage ?????
3) the memory ratio should be set to 2.0 ? ok got it
4)FSB is 333 right now (stock) why do you say 100MHz ? do you mean the PCIE speed should be locked at 100 MHz ?

thanks a lot

Yes, to both Questions.....Bump up your OC in increments though. 3.1, 3.2 etc.. and see how well you can OC with stock voltage. Read many threads on this chip. I have the E7200 and I got pretty far on stock.... give it a whirl..:)

Holy crapola - i am at 3.6 GHz !!!!!! yay

i did what you said and did not touch ANY voltage settings
CPUID H/W monitor is showing core is at 44C

no time for stress testing i gota wake up early .....

please tell me more, what else to adjust or fine tune ???????????????

So far so good! :) But you need to stress test so stay there and do some Prime, OCCT or Intel stress test just to be sure, As for fine tune, well since you didn't adjust anything, your pretty close.

Now theoretically speaking for now, if i wanted to go to 4.0 GHz in the future - obviously i would have to increase some voltages, but what would i have to do to my ram ? its already running at 4-4-4-12 @2.08V or so which its advertised to do, but i dont think i can push it much more

how does the relationship with ram affect the FSB and the CPU ?

This is some good advice to follow and I am sure it will help.

You might have to loosen your timings a bit like to 5-5-5-15. But don't overvolt your ram. This would not be a very good idea. If you are @ 2.08v, I wouldn't go much higher. loosening timings may help as you get at a higher clock.
